Macaulay Atasie, the INTEGRITY MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNER, during their “ANNUAL INTEGRITY LECTURE AND AWARD” The Event which marked the 10th Anniversary of the Association was graced by Eminent Nigerians from all works of life including top government functionaries. At the event, one man who stood tall was MACAULAY ATASIE who was conferred with the prestigious INTEGRITY MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD. According to the President of the Association, Dr Charles Okhai, ATASIE’S selection for the prestigious Award was predicated on his very impressive track record of Patriotism, Democratic Principles, Intellectual capacity, and High Sense of INTEGRITY.
ATASIE is an unconventional entrepreneur, a strategic business leader and a thought-leader in payments, ventures, general management and public sector governance. His career goal is to continuously build his knowledge, network, health and financial base to enable him help individuals and corporate bodies deliver innovative solutions successfully.
In addition, he is a diligent leader who just work, work and work to get things done excellently well. No dull moments around him.
Logic rules his world. It must make logical sense devoid of emotional distortions.
He is the Chief Executive and Managing Director of Nextzon Business Services Limited.
He has led various Nextzon teams in delivering several value-adding assignments to our well over 500 clients across Africa.
He has spent the past seven years working closely with to assisting the governors of Anambra (from 2014) and Abia (2015) to govern the states covering the development of medium-term economic and development blueprints to project management of the execution and the selection of top-level officers such as Honorable commissioners and the heads of agencies.
He sits on boards of several agencies with economic mandates in both states. He has very deep experience of the challenges facing states and how they are best resolved. Specifically, he developed the current Economic Blueprints for Abia and Anambra State Governments aimed at enhancing the socio-economic development in the 2 states.
He Pioneered the deployment of a transformational Land Management Information System (LMIS) in Nigeria, covering 4 states between 2007 and 2009. These states include Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu. The projects were funded by the world bank.
He also, championed the deployment of state-of-the-art tech-enabled USSD IGR monitoring and collection system that eliminated revenue loss by 95% in Abia State.
He steered the group that defined Nigeria’s e-Government’s strategy in 2005/6; a process that ushered in the establishment of National e-Government Strategies (NeGSt).
He recently introduced an education portal for governments to manage schools in their states. This world bank sponsored initiative will likely become popular amongst states in Nigeria over the next 5 years.
He developed high-level strategic plans for and to support Commercial Banks (over half of the Nigerian banks) for corporate and international expansion, Insurance Companies, SMEs and regulatory bodies including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Technology and Payments companies, etc.
He Influenced the introduction of the first PoS network and Agency Banking systems in Nigeria. He owns a significant equity stake in two of the pioneer companies in these two sectors of the financial services sector. His thought leadership capacity helped the CBN and others to make key decisions in this area leading to the pervasive presence of POS and human agents across the country today.
He conceptualised the idea of a shared ICT platform to decrease the unit cost of Micro-Finance Banks (MFBs); this ultimately led to the set up of the pioneer shared services platform for microfinance banks and linked them to mainstream ATM, PoS and Mobile Banking networks – Finconnekt (thereby creating a vibrant Africa-wide industry with other players joining this movement)
He designed the framework for the revalidation and issuance of vehicle license plates for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). We also built and implemented the ICT platform and rolled same out across the nation. Along with this conceptualized and built the first online platform for verifying motor insurance for over 6 large insurance companies aimed at eliminating fake insurance.
He championed the team that defined the current identity management system in Nigeria for NIMC, procuring the approval of the Federal Government.
As the MD/CEO of HEIRS, he participated actively in the restructuring of the then-HEIRS/STB Group, thereby fostering enhanced integration amongst its members and upgrading strategies of the various member companies for enhanced competitiveness.
He was Strategic Consultant/Head of Venturing/Payment Systems & Senior Manager, Strategy
He developed the original concept of the first shared ATM network (ATM Consortium-ATM.)
He led numerous projects for large, medium-sized and small Nigerian banks and as well for the largest ground handling company in the aviation industry
He supported the development of a new strategic direction and operating plan for one of the largest soft drink companies in Nigeria
He started my career as an Assistant Manager at Nigerian Breweries Plc, makers of the Heineken brand of beer in Nigeria.
