The Interim President General of the Ohafia Improvement Union [OIU] Worldwide, Chief Fab Uche, has said that his team was determined to reposition the Union to meet up with the realities of today, and face the challenges of the future.
According to him, the task of before them is to organise a credible election that will usher in people of integrity; people whose unwavering commitments to the progress and development of Ohafia are legendary.
Chief Uche stated this while briefing members of the interim executives on his meeting with the Ohafia monarchs and other community leaders.
According to him, the Ohafia Council of Monarchs, penultimate week invited him, and the immediate past President of OIU, Elder Ukpai K. Ukpai, with his Secretary, Hon. Richard Agwu to a meeting.
While he was at the Udumeze Palace with the monarchs, they waited for long before Elder Ukpai called over the phone that he was indisposed and couldn’t be present for the meeting, while Chief Richard Agwu never attended or sent a message to that effect.
Chief Uche also reported that he visited many community leaders and explained to them the mission of the Interim team and their journey so far to give birth to a new OIU leadership, “they applauded our sacrifices and pledged their support, “Uche said.
He is reminding the Ohafia people that the Interim executives committee has concluded arrangements to conduct the Union’s election on January 4, 2026, and imploring them not to be distracted by the cacophony of voices opposing the said election.
According to him, the OIU has been asphyxiating following the expiration of the Elder Ukpai-led executives, and therefore, called for the support of every well meaning Ohafia person to bring to fruition “our dream of having a vibrant OIU leadership that will stand tall among other development Unions in Abia State and beyond,” Uche emphasised.
