The immediate past Vice Presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the 2023 presidential election, Pastor Okey Udo, PhD, has paid a glowing tribute to the late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai (1945–2025), describing him as “a General in the Lord’s Army” whose life and ministry transformed millions across the world.
In a statement titled “A Tribute to Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai (1945–2025): A General in the Lord’s Army Has Gone Home,” and issued on behalf of the Executive and Members of the Amaekpu All Clergy Forum, Pastor Udo wrote: “With hearts full of gratitude and solemn reflection, we celebrate the glorious transition of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, a true Apostle of faith, an evangelist of global impact, and one of the greatest prophetic voices of our generation.
“Born with divine purpose, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai dedicated over five decades of his life to preaching the undiluted Gospel of Christ with signs and wonders following. Through the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), he traversed nations, crusading for souls, healing the sick, empowering believers, and raising generations of faith-filled Christians.
“He was more than a preacher — he was a father to many, a mentor to ministers, and a reformer of faith whose voice resounded across continents. His simplicity, humility, and unwavering passion for the Kingdom left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who encountered him.
“Rev. Uma Ukpai built altars of prayer and platforms for education and empowerment, demonstrating that true ministry goes beyond the pulpit. His message was clear and consistent — faith works, and God never fails.
“Though he has departed this earthly realm, his legacy of faith, integrity, and divine service remains immortal. The torch of revival he ignited continues to burn brightly in the lives of those he inspired. Heaven rejoices at the homecoming of a faithful servant who fought a good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith.
“Today, we honour a General of Faith, a Patriarch of Pentecost, and a Father to the Faithful. His life continues to speak volumes, and his impact will echo through generations.
“‘Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.’ — Psalm 116:15
“Rest on, God’s General. Rest on, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai — until we meet again at the Master’s feet.”
Pastor Udo concluded the tribute by praying that God would comfort the family, ministry, and all those whose lives were touched by the late evangelist, describing him as “a faithful servant whose voice and vision will continue to inspire generations of believers.”
