‘Many Came With Promises’, Umuye Ihechiowa Community Reveals How Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa Came to Their Rescue with First-Ever Borehole
The people of Umuye Ihechiowa Community in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State have expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude as their decades-long search for potable water finally came to an end thanks to the intervention of Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.
The community came alive with celebration as Hon. Osonwa commissioned a fully solar-powered borehole, the very first in the history of Umuye. The project, which had eluded the people for many years despite several failed attempts by past administrations and organisations, was described by residents as a “miracle” and a “dream come true.”
Speaking during the commissioning, community members could not hide their excitement. “Many leaders came with promises, but none delivered. It was only Hon. Ibe who broke the jinx,” said a visibly elated resident.
Traditional music, drumming, and dances filled the air as both young and old gathered to witness the landmark event. The Ezieogo of Umuye, His Royal Majesty Eze Ogo Martins Otada, commended the lawmaker for keeping his word, describing the project as a life-saving intervention.
Similarly, the Autonomous King of Umuye, His Royal Highness Eze Okoro Livinus, said this was the first meaningful government project in the community in over 24 years.
Hon. Osonwa, in his speech, thanked the people for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development.
“Umuye is a part of this constituency and will never be left behind,” he said, assuring them of more developmental projects in the near future.
He also decried the poor state of the road leading to the community and promised to lobby for its temporary grading, even while continuing his legislative duties at the federal level.
