Abia PDP Berates Former Deputy Governor, Ude Oko Chukwu, Says He’s Seeking To Reap Where He Neither Sowed Nor Watered

The Abia State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern response to the alleged political movements of former Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, accusing him of disloyalty and opportunism.

In a press statement signed by the State Chairman of the party, Elder Abraham Amah, and dated August 6, 2025, the PDP described Rt. Hon. Oko Chukwu’s recent political overtures towards the administration of Governor Alex Otti as “regrettably laughable” and “a tragicomedy of ego.”

According to Elder Amah, while the former Deputy Governor is constitutionally free to align with anyone of his choice, the party finds it morally and politically questionable that a man who “occupied the corridors of power for twenty unbroken years under the PDP” would now seek relevance by associating with a government he never supported.

The statement noted that Oko Chukwu’s current political posture is not one borne of ideological conviction but rather a “desperate attempt to position himself ahead of true party faithfuls” such as Chief Bourdex Onuoha, Chief Umeh Kalu (SAN), and Hon. Nnamdi Iro Orji.

“To attempt to reap where he neither sowed nor watered is not politics; it is a tragicomedy of ego,” the party stated.

The PDP accused the former Deputy Governor of lacking the moral standing to position himself as a leader in the emerging political dispensation, arguing that his absence during the most turbulent periods of opposition struggle reveals a “survivalist instinct dressed in the borrowed robes of loyalty.”

In a philosophical tone, the statement warned that “a pendulum that swings without restraint eventually exhausts itself,” adding that history neither forgets nor forgives opportunism disguised as relevance.

Calling for calm among its members, the party assured its supporters that the leadership is closely monitoring unfolding events and “collating all intelligence related to these acts of political acrobatics.”

Elder Amah concluded with a poetic admonition: “Let those who choose expediency over principle remember: the stars that wander too far from their constellations are often mistaken for falling stars—brilliant for a moment, forgotten forever.”

He reaffirmed the resilience of the PDP, stating that while some branches may sway in the wind, the party’s roots remain deep and unshaken.

“We remain steadfast. We remain PDP,” he declared.
