Communities across the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency erupted in celebration as Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, Member representing the constituency in the National Assembly, commissioned a string of people-oriented projects, including brand-new classroom blocks in Ukwa Nkporo, Abam, and Abia Ohafia, as well as a historic solar-powered borehole in Umuye, Ihechiowa.

Three-Classroom Block Commissioned in Ukwa Nkporo
In Ukwa Nkporo, a newly built and fully furnished block of three classrooms was unveiled to the delight of residents and traditional authorities. Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Osonwa emphasised the importance of equitable development and education, noting that every part of his constituency deserves to feel the impact of good governance.
“Education is the bedrock of any society. This project is part of our commitment to building a better future for our children,” he said.
The Ezieogo of Ukwa, HRM Ezeogo Mba Nkuma, lauded the lawmaker for his integrity and delivery of campaign promises. Other dignitaries at the event included the Leader of Ohafia Legislative Council, Hon. Arua Arua Anyim, who called for further intervention in the area’s water supply. Hon. Osonwa assured the gathering that water projects were already underway, with a geological survey completed and contractors set to be mobilised.
Decades-Old Water Crisis Ends in Umuye, Ihechiowa
History was made in Umuye, Ihechiowa, as the community witnessed the commissioning of its first-ever solar-powered borehole, an achievement that brought tears of joy to many residents who had endured decades without access to clean water.
Traditional drummers, dancers, and community members welcomed Hon. Osonwa amidst cheers and heartfelt appreciation. “This is a dream come true. Others tried and failed, but Hon. Ibe has broken the jinx,” said Mr. Okiyi Emeka Okpo.
Royal Fathers, including HRM Eze Ogo Martins Otada and HRH Eze Okoro Livinus, hailed the borehole as the first meaningful government intervention in over 24 years. In response, Hon. Osonwa reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development and pledged to push for improvements on the community’s dilapidated access road.
New School Infrastructure Delivered in Abam
The people of Abam also had reason to celebrate as Hon. Osonwa commissioned another brand-new, fully furnished block of three classrooms at Abam High School. The lawmaker, visibly moved by the poor state of some school buildings, immediately directed the reroofing of a dilapidated block that had been abandoned for over two decades.
“I will not stop until every child in this constituency learns in dignity,” he declared, while also commending Governor Alex Otti for his support on key infrastructure projects, including ongoing work on Omenuko and Nmouri bridges and the Abam–Arochukwu Road.
Six-Classroom Block Commissioned in Abia Ohafia as Osonwa Receives Chieftaincy Title
The celebration reached a high point in Abia Ohafia, where Hon. Osonwa commissioned a modern six-classroom block at Abia Primary School, providing a conducive learning environment for pupils.
In recognition of his outstanding service and delivery of democratic dividends, the community conferred on him the prestigious chieftaincy title of “Omeroha 1 of Abia Ohafia.” The colourful event brought together traditional rulers, women groups, youths, and elated schoolchildren who showered praises on the lawmaker.
