APC Chieftain Ikenna Ukwa Strengthens Party’s Unity, Leads Ohafia Stakeholders To State Chairman, Hosts Abia Executives
The Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President of Nigeria, Hon Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa, on Thursday, 29 May 2025, undertook two key engagements aimed at reinforcing unity and strengthening the structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.
Ukwa first led a delegation of APC stakeholders from Ohafia Local Government Area on a familiarisation visit to the Abia State APC Chairman, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu, at his residence in Nkpa, Bende LGA.
The meeting served as a platform to discuss the progress of the party, strategies for the future, and the need for enhanced collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dr Ononogbu commended Ukwa’s steadfast commitment to the party and his track record of impactful community projects, stating that his involvement would be instrumental in repositioning the party across the state.
Later the same day, Ukwa hosted an enlarged meeting of the Abia State APC Executive members at the party’s state secretariat in Umuahia. This engagement further solidified his growing influence within the party, as stakeholders and executive members applauded his grassroots mobilisation, philanthropic activities, and dedication to party ideals.
Chief George Nnanna Kalu, who introduced Ukwa at the Umuahia meeting, highlighted his numerous contributions to party unity at the ward and LGA levels. These included the installation of solar-powered street lights, medical outreaches, empowerment programmes, and youth development initiatives across Ohafia and Arochukwu LGAs.
High Chief Uche Ogboso formally
presented Ukwa to the state executives, describing him as a leader known for accessibility, humility, and proven service.
In their remarks, party leaders including Chief Chinedum Adindu, Chief N.O. Ukata, Hon Mrs Chino Cecilia Erondu, and Sir Justice Onwumere pledged their support for Ukwa, noting the importance of collaboration and selfless leadership for the growth of the APC in Abia State. Dr Ononogbu, who was also present at the Umuahia meeting, reiterated his support for Ukwa’s efforts. He expressed gratitude for Ukwa’s role in establishing a functional and well-equipped APC office in Ohafia and encouraged other stakeholders to emulate his commitment.
The highlight of the event was the official handing over of the APC party symbol to Hon Ikenna Ukwa, symbolising his formal recognition and welcome into the state party leadership circle.
In his closing remarks, Ukwa expressed profound appreciation for the warm reception and pledged to continue fostering peace, unity, and progress within the APC, working collectively to ensure the party’s success in Abia State and beyond.
