Ohafia Improvement Union Abuja Branch Congratulates Coach John Obuh, Abia Warriors On Continental Ticket
The President and entire members of the Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU), Abuja Branch, have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Coach John Obuh and the entire Abia Warriors Football Club for securing a historic qualification for a CAF competition.
In a statement signed by the Union’s President, Chief Kalu Idika Okwara, and made available to newsmen in Abuja, the union described the feat as a monumental achievement — not just for the club, but for the entire Abia State.
“We are proud of Coach John Obuh, a distinguished son of Ohafia, for his exemplary leadership which has seen Abia Warriors rise to continental prominence for the first time in the club’s history,” Chief Okwara stated.
Abia Warriors FC secured the continental ticket after a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory against Elkanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri on Sunday at the Umuahia Township Stadium during the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 37 encounter. The win brought their points tally to 60 — enough to guarantee qualification ahead of the season finale.
“This victory is a testament to the discipline, unity, and commitment of the entire Abia Warriors family — from the management led by Chief John Obuh, to the technical crew, the players, and the support staff. As an organisation rooted in the promotion of excellence and unity among Ohafians, we are indeed proud,” the Union president added.
Chief Kalu Okwara also noted that Coach Obuh’s latest achievement has brought honour and visibility to Ohafia land and serves as a motivation to the younger generation.
Ohafia Improvement Union, Abuja Branch, pledged continuous support for Coach Obuh and called on all Ohafians and Abians at large to rally behind Abia Warriors as they represent Nigeria on the continental stage.
“We believe that this is just the beginning. The continent will soon come to respect the warrior spirit in Abia Warriors. Congratulations once again to our illustrious son and the entire team,” the statement concluded.
