Court Hears Prophet Jeremiah vs VeryDarkMan Case as VDM Counsel Concedes to Injunction
The FCT High Court presided over by A.Y. Shafa, sitting at Nyanya, FCT, in a case filed against popular YouTuber, blogger, and self-proclaimed freedom fighter, Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, operating on different social media platforms and the Facebook Meta platform. The FCT High Court today, in fresh proceedings, has again started hearing the case afresh in respect of the case filed by Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin of Deliverance Mercyland International Ministry in Warri, Delta State, against VDM.
As the FCT High Court today, in the court proceedings, stated, it will grant fresh orders of status quo injunction on VeryDarkMan since his counsel, Ademola Adedokun, has conceded to refrain VDM from further libeling and doing any further libelous acts via internet videos and/or publishing by Facebook, YouTube videos, or any defamatory works against Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin.
Today, the court heard all pending applications of Prophet Jeremiah and VDM’s preliminary objection and reserved ruling till 2nd July 2025.
According to the statement of claim filed by Prophet Jeremiah’s lead counsel and lawyer, Joel Karatu, Esq., in July 2024, the claimant chronicled the various alleged libelous Facebook and social media publications made against him by VeryDarkMan.
The plaintiff lamented that the defamatory contents caused him incalculable damage and brought him to ridicule among members of his church and business partners who are spread across the globe. In a case of alleged libel and defamation, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin accused VeryDarkMan of operating on different social media platforms and portraying him in a bad light.
The FCT High Court heard the matter today even after painstakingly listening to the submissions of lead counsel to Prophet Jeremiah, human rights lawyer Ihensekhien Samuel Junior, who pointed out that VDM has gone berserk on social media and on a daily basis, and in different sequences, continuously making defamatory videos. VDM is not just defaming the plaintiff’s wife, including his church ministry, but also regularly defaming and insulting the plaintiff via his social media mediums.
In this regard, the presiding judge, after hearing counsel for VeryDarkMan, Mr. Ademola Oyedoku, Esq., who appeared for VDM in today’s court sitting, made a solemn promise to the FCT High Court that VeryDarkMan, known as VDM, will cease from any further defamation of the plaintiff or undermining the suit and proceedings before the court.
