Senator Kalu Hosts Abia APC Stakeholders In Abuja, Says Party United For Future Elections

Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has reaffirmed the unity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, declaring that the party will approach future elections as a united and formidable force.

Kalu made this known on Thursday during a strategic meeting with selected stakeholders of the party at his Aso Villa residence in Abuja. The meeting, convened by the National Welfare Officer of the party, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, in collaboration with the state leadership, focused on charting a cohesive path for the party’s success in Abia.

In his address, Senator Kalu dismissed claims of division within the party, asserting: “There is no faction in APC. I am committed to the rebuilding of the party and the overall unity of the APC in Abia State to support President Bola Tinubu in achieving his Renewed Hope agenda for the good of all Nigerians.”

He emphasised the importance of unity, collaboration, and mutual respect among party members, especially in supporting prominent Abia figures in government.

“A tree cannot make a forest. Bring down your tempers; let’s move our party forward. This is the state of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. He needs our support, just like the Minister who is here with us today. If we are united and rally round them, they will become stronger—for the betterment of the party and our dear state. Nobody should disrespect them.”

The senator stressed his commitment to ensuring electoral victory for the APC in the state.

“I won’t allow President Bola Tinubu to lose Abia again. I won’t be around and it happens. So we must unite and forgive ourselves. If I have offended anyone, please forgive me. Let’s make this party stronger and better.”

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, echoed the call for peace and reconciliation.

“I believe it is the right thing because there is no way, as a party, we would be able to achieve success if we don’t put our house together and pursue peace.”

In his remarks, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, National Welfare Secretary of the APC, reiterated confidence in the party’s capacity to deliver victory in future elections.

“We have the people and everything we need to achieve success—people with goodwill and the goodwill of the people. We want to assure President Bola Tinubu that we are not begging anybody for 25% of the votes. We shall deliver APC. We endorse him for continuity and commend his genuineness and reforms. APC has come to stay in Abia.”

Speaking on behalf of the state chairman, Chief Chidi Avajah, who also serves as the State Secretary of the party, appreciated the leaders for their show of unity. He reaffirmed that Abia APC is united with one recognised chairman steering the ship.

The high-level meeting was attended by notable political figures including:
Chief Sam Nkire (former state caucus leader and National Chairman of the defunct PPA), Sir Marc Wabara (former senatorial candidate), Chief Nyerere Anyim (former governorship candidate), Prof. ACB Agbazuere, Chief Obinna Oriaku, Chief Emeka Atuma, Nze Esiaga, Hon. Ndukwe Maxwell Adindu, and Dr Chidia Madukwe.

Others in attendance were Prince Paul Ikonne, Hon. Nnanna Uzor Kalu, Hon. Uzor Azubuike, Hon. Benedict Godson, Hon. Chijioke Ikpo, Chief Damian Igbokwe, Mr Ebere Nwachukwu, Hon. Hope Ogbonna, Hon. Nnamdi Chidiebere, among other loyal party members.
