Hon. Dike Chidozie Okwara Commiserates With Victims of Amaekpu Ohafia Accident
Hon. Dike Chidozie Okwara, the 2023 APGA candidate for Ohafia South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has expressed sadness over the tragic accident that claimed the lives of a school pupil and a commercial motorcycle operator in Amaekpu Ohafia.
The heartbreaking incident, which occurred earlier today along Arochukwu Road near Strums Filling Station, was reportedly caused by brake failure of a heavy-duty truck. Eyewitnesses said the motorcycle was conveying two schoolchildren when the truck lost control and ran over the bike. One of the children miraculously escaped, while the okada rider and the other pupil tragically lost their lives.
In a condolence message, Hon. Okwara conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, describing the loss as devastating to the entire community.
“I am deeply saddened to hear about the tragic motor accident that claimed the precious lives of a young primary school student and an okada rider in our beloved community, Amaekpu Ohafia. My heart goes out to their families, and I pray that God grants them the strength to bear this irreparable loss. No words can adequately express the pain of this moment, but please know that you are not alone in your grief,” he said.
As a proud son of Amaekpu Ohafia, Hon. Okwara emphasized the need for urgent action to prevent similar tragedies in the future. He called on the Abia State Government to implement road safety measures, including the installation of speed bumps and speed limit signs, to curb reckless driving and protect lives.
“I urge everyone to be vigilant and take necessary precautions while using our roads. However, beyond individual caution, the government must take proactive steps to enhance road safety. The installation of speed prevention measures will go a long way in reducing accidents and ensuring the well-being of our people,” he added.
