Abia State Governor, Alex Otti Will Return To APC, Says Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has described Abia State Governor Alex Otti as a “prodigal son,” suggesting that he would eventually return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Keyamo made this remark during his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Abia International Airport in Nsulu, Abia State. He pointed out that Otti, who had moved from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to APC in 2020, later switched to the Labour Party and went on to win the 2023 gubernatorial election on its platform.
The aviation minister remarked that although Otti had “strayed away” from the APC, it was only a matter of time before he returned, comparing him to the biblical prodigal son who eventually returns home.
Keyamo further explained that President Bola Tinubu’s decision to locate the airport in Nsulu was motivated by his fondness for Governor Otti. He mentioned that President Tinubu admired the governor’s spirit and the affection that the people of Abia have for him.
The ceremony for the groundbreaking of the Abia International Airport took place amid local protests. Nsulu natives in Isiala Ngwa North had staged a protest on December 1 over the use of communal land for the proposed project.
