Senator Orji Kalu Continues Drive For Educational Advancement In Abia North, Distributes Educational Materials To Over 73 Schools, Renovates Classroom Blocks

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has intensified his ongoing educational support initiative by distributing educational materials to schools across the Abia North Senatorial District over the past seven days.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that all schools in the district are equipped with essential educational supplies to enhance learning conditions for students.

The schools that benefited from the distribution include Amankalu Alayi Comprehensive Secondary School, Boys Secondary School Uzualoli, Umuhu Ezichi Community School, and Ugwueke Secondary School, among others.

Represented by his legislative assistant, Barr. Ifeanyi Igwe, Senator Kalu’s gesture was met with applause and appreciation from community leaders, teachers, and students, who commended his commitment to the educational development of Bende LGA.

In a similar vein, the Senator’s team recently expanded the distribution of educational materials to six additional schools in Ohafia LGA. The supplies included science textbooks covering subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology, alongside school bags, textbooks, and exercise books for pupils. Beneficiary schools include Rubber Primary School, Akanu Ohafia Secondary School, and Ndi Uduma Awoke Primary School.

Continuing his drive for educational advancement in Abia North, Senator Kalu also extended the distribution to eight more schools in Bende LGA, providing school bags, textbooks, and other materials. Schools such as Senior Science School Alayi, Senior Technical School Alayi, and Igbere Secondary School were among those included. The event was attended by notable members of the OUK Movement, including Madam Ann Elendu and Hon. Izuka, who expressed gratitude for the Senator’s unwavering support in bolstering educational standards in the region.

The President General of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union, Chief Emeka Mba, and the Headmistress of Ujuruezie Primary School recently inspected the completed renovation of a block of four classrooms at Ujuruezie Primary School, Ebem–Ohafia. Facilitated by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the renovation project was lauded by community leaders for its quality and the positive impact it will have on the learning environment.

Chief Mba commended the Senator for the initiative and expressed satisfaction with the standard of work, particularly the quality of roofing sheets used. He emphasized that the project would significantly improve educational standards in the community. “Your Excellency, I visited this morning to assess the quality of work being done here. I am pleased to say that it will significantly enhance the standard of education in our community. We understand the vital role education plays in our development, and we are grateful for this initiative,” he said.

Similarly, a youth leader from Ebem Ohafia, Mr. Ogele Ikechukwu Egbuta, praised Senator Kalu, highlighting that the lawmaker was the first senator to initiate a community-based project since 1999. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the youth, noting that the project, awarded to a local contractor, demonstrates the Senator’s commitment to grassroots development.

Expansion of the Red-Roof Initiative

Additionally, Senator Kalu announced the completion of renovation work at Ngodo Town Primary School, Obinulo Isuochi, in Umunneochi LGA, and Ndi Ibe Community School, in Ohafia LGA. These projects are part of the Senator’s Red-Roof Initiative, which is being implemented across all clans in Arochukwu, Bende, Isikwuato, Umunneochi, and Ohafia LGAs. The initiative aims to renovate dilapidated schools and enhance educational infrastructure throughout the Senatorial District.

Community members have been vocal in expressing their appreciation for the Senator’s contributions. Comrade Ibe Kalu, a resident of Ndi Ibe Ohafia, said, “Your Excellency, I cannot contain my joy upon learning about the completion of the school project at Ndi Ibe Ohafia. On behalf of the community, I extend our deepest appreciation to you. May God bless you, sir.”
