Constituents from the eight clans in Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State have lauded Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa for his commitment to the advancement of youths and women in the area.

In an effort to boost food production and combat rising food costs, Rep. Osonwa distributed over 30,000 high-yield seedlings to farmers across the constituency.

This was in addition to the distribution of grains, bags of fertilizers, and the training and empowerment of over 200 youths and women with startup grants in agro-allied businesses.

It is noteworthy that the lawmaker had recently flagged off the rehabilitation of some rural roads and facilitated the installation of solar street lights in the federal constituency.

Commending the lawmaker, a community leader from Ohafia, Prince Emmanuel Ndukwe, described Hon. Osonwa as a promise keeper.

He said: “When he was campaigning, he promised to prioritise the advancement of women and youths. He said he would fully empower them by helping them earn a living instead of giving handouts. Today, you can see what he is doing—training them, especially in the agricultural sector, and empowering them with startup grants. All I can say is that Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa is doing a great job.”

Mrs. Mary Urum, a farmer from Abiriba community, also praised the lawmaker for distributing fertilizers to farmers in her community.

“I thank Hon. Ibe Okwara for distributing fertilizers to our women. Before, politicians usually shared them with their wives and sold the rest to us. But today, we all received fertilizers from Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa. May God bless him.”

James Udeh, a school teacher from the federal constituency, described Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa as a great example of quality representation.

“You all know how he has been very committed to ensuring that electricity is restored to our community. He is a great man who has the constituency at heart. I commend what he is doing. Just today, we heard he is about to train another set of 100 women and youths with startup grants. I’m truly impressed by his style of leadership.”

Taking to his official Facebook page, Osonwa described his empowerment program as “Nourishing the Future, Sustaining the Earth: Cultivating Prosperity with Responsible Agriculture.”

He said: “Farmers are very important to me because I believe if we can feed our nation—if we can start by being able to feed ourselves without relying on external sources—then we are reducing the cost of spending money outside.”
