Udi LGA Election: Nachi and Umuaga Wards Pledge Total Solidarity For PDP

The people of Nachi have reiterated their unflinching resolve to vote massively for the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Udi LGA Chairmanship and Councillorship elections slated for 21st September,2024. They made this known to the party when its campaign train visited the community on Tuesday, 10th September, 2024 at Ohankpagu, Nachi.

Welcoming the august visitors, the President General of Nachi, *Dr. Peter Nwanna Onuigbo* thanked the Enugu State government ably led by His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for considering a son of Nachi to run for the office of the Deputy Chairman of Udi LGA in the forthcoming election and for extending government largesse to the community, stating that the news of Hon. Emmanuel Ezenwammadu’s nomination for the Deputy Chairmanship position was greeted with wide jubilations owing to his immense contributions to community development. He assured the guests of the unwavering support of the people before, during and after the elections while in the same vein, prayed God for a hitch-free exercise.

The former Transition Committee Chairman of Udi LGA, Engr. Kene Eze while expressing deep appreciation to governor Peter Mbah for finding a son of Nachi worthy to serve in an elective position, assured the continued support of the people of Nachi to his administration and reiterated their resolve to vote massively for the party’s candidates in the elections. He further thanked the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District and the Senate Minority Whip, Engr. Osita Ngwu and other notable leaders of the party including the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu and the member representing Udi South constituency, Rt. Hon. Okechukwu Aneke for their relentless efforts in attracting dividends of democracy to the community.

In his brief address, the Deputy Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Emmanuel Ezenwammadu expressed profound gratitude to governor Peter Mbah for the privilege to contribute his quota towards the growth and development of Udi LGA in particular, and Enugu State in general, pledging the unparalleled support of Nachi to his administration. He also prayed God to strengthen him as he works tirelessly to deliver good governance to Ndi Enugu.

In their separate speeches, the former Secretary of Udi LGA, Hon. Obum Onuigbo, the PDP Treasurer of Udi LGA, Hon. Mrs. Isioma Amaobi-Eze, the PDP Ward Chairman, Hon. Izuchukwu Umenweze and the PDP Youth Leader, Hon. Izuchukwu Ochenwari extolled governor Peter Mbah’s all inclusive policy, an initiative which according to them guarantee’s an even distribution of government dividends to all and sundry. They also reassured of the unwavering commitment of the people of Nachi to deliver the party’s candidates at the polls.

Similarly, the people of Umuaga have joined their Nachi counterpart to declare their total support and solidarity to the PDP ahead of the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections. They made the declaration during the visit of the party at Obodo-ukwu Umuaga.

Welcoming the guests, a notable PDP stakeholder, Hon Ndubuisi Ugwueze (Eze Umuaga) thanked the PDP led government for the many privileges extended to the ward, stressing that the people of Umuaga are progressive minded and would continue to show appreciation to the party by supporting its people-oriented policies.

Corroborating his assertions, the former Senior Personal Assistant (SPA) to the Chairman of Udi LGA, Hon Anayo Chocho Aneke expressed profound gratitude to the party for its immense contributions to the development of the community, stating that it behoves on them to demonstrate absolute loyalty to the party by delivering all the polling units to the PDP in the coming elections.

Other leaders and stakeholders whom assured the unflinching support of the community to the party include; the Ward Chairman, Hon. Armstrong Chinedu Nebo; Chief Cyprain Aguene; Prince C.I.C Ikechukwu; the Special Assistant to the Senator on Youth and Sport, Hon. IK Aguene and Mr. Ignatius Udeh.

Reacting, the PDP Chairmanship candidate, Engr. Hyginus Ogbonna Agu expressed heartfelt appreciation to governor Peter Mbah for offering him the opportunity to vie for the exalted office of the Executive Chairman. He commended the governor for his developmental strides which according to him, has giving the state a facelift. He expressed delight at the massive turnout of the people which he described, as a welcomed development.

He urged the people to remain steadfast in their support to the party, stressing that his administration would partner with the state government and other critical stakeholders to effectively address the challenges of the people at the grassroot. He therefore appealed to the people to vote massively for the party in the upcoming elections.

Delivering his remark, the honourable member representing Udi South constituency, Rt. Hon. Okechukwu Aneke (Erienyeibe) commended the people of Nachi for delivering the party at all level in the 2023 general elections, adding that their unalloyed commitment and loyalty to the party informed the emergence of their son as the Deputy Chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming election. While commending the people of Umuaga for their turnout, he observed that the ward is a major beneficiary of the PDP led government and therefore, urged them to double their efforts to ensure a seamless delivery of the party at the polls.

In their separate speeches, the Director General of the campaign organization and the Udi PDP Chairman, Chief Hon. Augustine Agu and Barr. Bona Madu respectively, appreciated the people for their corporation and appealed to them to remain committed in their support for the party.

On behalf of the State PDP Chairman, Dr. Martins Chukwunweike, the State Publicity Secretary, Chief Uche Obute thanked the people for their solidarity to the party, stating that the new leadership of the party is determined to work for the collective interests of Ndi Enugu. He stated that the PDP is magnanimous to Udi as observed in the various exalted positions it occupies including the revered office of the Senator of Enugu West District, the Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Udi South constituency, amongst others hence, the need for continued support to the party.

Highlights of the event was the conferment of the “Ofor,” a sacred traditional symbol of authority to the PDP candidates by the traditional ruler of Nachi, HRH, Igwe Cosmas C. Ezeume (Ohazurumee 1 n’ Nachi) when the campaign train paid him a courtesy visit at his palace and the presentation of gifts to the party by both wards.

Prior to the visit to Nachi and Umuaga wards, the campaign train joined the Holy Mass at St. Mary’s Pro Cathedral, Udi to seek for God’s guidance and blessings.
