The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa (Oke Abba Ohafia), says he is working round the clock with other stakeholders to ensure that power is restored as soon as possible to some communities within the constituency.

For some years now, some communities including Abam, Abiriba, Ohafia and Nkporo have been out of public power supply for inscrutable reasons.

Our correspondent reports that this has adversely affected the socio-economic activities of the federal constituency.

Osonwa, in a chat with The Whisperer on Tuesday in Abuja said, “We are working round the clock to have electricity restored back to some communities in Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.

“The officials from EEDC are through with the maintenance on 11kv feeders (Asaga) and Barracks 11kv feeders was completed on Sunday, but a trial was delayed due to a hotspot at ITU station.

“The hotspot was treated on Monday, but there was no power supply from Alaoji Aba to ITU station. Power supply was restored to ITU station on Monday night. A trial was conducted on the Aro segment, but it tripped. The Aro team will work to restore power soon before proceeding with the Ohafia trial,” he said.

He, however, said faulty electrical equipment such as transformers poses a huge challenge to power transportation across the constituency.

Osonwa stated that the transmission sector is very important in the power chain, which underscores the need for the transmission lines to be safe at all times.

“I am working very hard to see how we can replace some of these vandalised equipments. Though, it is not easy, but we are seriously on it to have power restored in Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.”
