Ohafia Improvement Union Abuja Branch Congratulates Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe On Appointment As DG/CEO Of NCCC

The Abuja Branch of Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU) Inc, has congratulated Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe on her appointment as the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Council on Climate Change by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

OIU Abuja said the honour goes beyond her as an individual and is for the entire Ohafia people, Abia State, Ndigbo and the country at large.

OIU Abuja in a congratulatory statement signed by its 1st Vice President, Chief Kalu Idika Okwara, praised Maduekwe for enjoying the trust and confidence of the president who deemed it fit and proper to appoint her.

The statement said Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe had always demonstrated capacity and competence in handling any responsibility entrusted to her.

“On behalf of Ohafia Improvement Union Abuja Branch, I warmly congratulate Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe on her appointment as the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Council on Climate Change.

“I am particularly happy that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu found her worthy of this rare honour which goes beyond her as an individual.

“Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe’s emergence is another resounding recognition of Ohafia’s preeminent position in Nigeria.

“I have no doubt that Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe will justify the trust and confidence in her by the president and provide credible leadership for the NCCC.”

Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through a State House press release signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, also approved Dr Maduekwe, 39, to serve as the Co-Chairperson of the Intergovernmental Committee on National Carbon Market Activation Plan.

According to the release, she holds a Bachelor of Law degree; a Master’s degree in Environmental Law and Policy from the University of Dundee (UK), and a Doctorate in Law from the University of Hull (UK), as well as over 15 years of national and international experience in climate policy development and project implementation.

Dr Maduekwe also previously served as Nigeria’s National Coordinator, Climate Parliament, an international, multi-partisan network of legislators working worldwide to help solve the climate crisis and accelerate the transition to renewable energy and was also the legal adviser to the NCCC Director-General.
