The ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State depleted further with the defection of Jery Uzosike, the immediate past lawmaker representing Umuahia South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
Uzosike, a lawyer by profession, announced his exit from the party hours after meeting Governor Alex Otti on Sunday.
In his letter of resignation addressed to the state chairman of the party through his Ohiaocha ward chairman dated March 11, 2024, Uzosike said his decision was “due to his conscience”, and the “desire” of his followers.
This is coming weeks after the immediate past deputy speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu dumped the party for the APC alongside 5,000 of his supporters.
