I followed the events that preceded the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly and the election of the presiding officers. SEN ORJI UZOR KALU demonstrated his profound grasp of political strategy and group mobilisation in his legitimate quest to become the president of the 10th senate. In doing that, OUK was conscious of the fact that he is not just a party man but a leader in the party. He knew that ultimately the arrival of the party would alter the face of affairs. Arguments, propositions, assumptions and even platforms were never the same again once the party entered the room. At that point, the supremacy of the party would prevail.
As the homo politicus, Sen Orji Uzor Kalu knew when to apply the brakes in deference to the party. And he did just that. OUK demonstrated that he understood more than was said and saw more than was apparent. He terminated his ambition knowing that the system offers RENWED HOPE to him, his constituents and the country.
I therefore congratulate distinguished Sen Orji Uzor Kalu, the homo politicus for his noble conduct.
