There appears to be crisis in the Abia State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over who becomes the deputy governorship candidate of the party, THE WHISPERER has learnt.

This is as stakeholders in the party have reportedly dropped Barr. Okey Igwe, who was the deputy governorship candidate of the party before the demise of late Professor Uchenna Eleazar Ikonne early this year.

THE WHISPERER gathered that another Umunneochi born politician, Mr. Jasper Uche has been picked as his replacement.

The choice of Jasper Uche, THE WHISPERER gathered has thorn stakeholders apart.
The former governor of the state and senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Theodore Orji is also said to oppose the choice of Jasper Uche.

Informed government sources, however, told THE WHISPERER that a former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Romanus Mmadu was Mr. Orji’s choice for the position.

It was further learned that Okey Igwe has been sidelined by the party and has not been relevant in the scheme of things since Okey Ahiwe emerged as the new governorship candidate of the party.

Investigations further revealed that Chris Igwe, who was instrumental in the emergence of Okey Igwe was not in the know of all the arrangements in the Abia State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
