Etigwe Uwa, a governoship hopeful in Abia State under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has called on churches and other religious organisations in the country to become drastic with their membership drive.
He has said that every church and other worship places should begin to insist on No PVC No Church membership. And No Party membership no church membership.
He spoke in Calabar yesterday when he gave his goodwill message when the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) celebrated their 176 anniversary which time they elected their new prelate and other key officials of the church.
He said this may appear drastic but that the country is in an emergency or war situation which requires that Nigerians fight to take the country back from those that have misgoverned her.
“If Nigeria does not change there won’t be a country for much longer.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria called on Nigerians to depend on God to select leaders during next year’s general election, expressing worry that the country was in dire strait having recklessly borrowed as a nation so that today most of her foreign earnings cannot service foreign debts.
He said it was coincidental that the PCN elections this year was a precursor to the Nigerian general elections next year, urging all to go spiritual, to seek the face of God for better leaders to be selected.
Focusing on the selection of new Prelate and Moderator as well as other principal officers for PCN, Uwa “This is not a time to be led by your tribe or led by Synod and Presbytery Moderators.
” It is a time to be led by the Holy Spirit, and whoever wants to stand in his way may be uprooted like Herod. He urged the Church to be sanitized to be able to lead the change in the country.
“So let’s get it right and then we can demand righteous government for our Nation..”
Uwa who is in court over outcome gubernatorial primaries in his state, explained that he got involved in the governorship race to lead his people, and to turn the economy of the state to the biggest economy in Nigeria.
“But unfortunately, the primaries did not go as expected and we are in court to recover our ticket which we feel was unjustly taken from us. We covet your prayers. In the same way every church member must get involved in how to run Nigeria.
“The trend must be halted and reversed and if that must occur the church must play a very active role in bringing about positive change. ”
