The Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is currently being hosted by the traditional leaders of Bende Local Government in continuation of his Mid-Term Constituency report tour.
Kalu and his entourage are being hosted at the Royal Palace of Eze Uwakwe O. Ukaegbu, Ofufe II of Amaofufe Autonomous community, Item.
Eze Uwakwe, doubles as Chairman of Bende Traditional rulers Council hosted Orji Kalu amongst other Traditional rulers of the community.
Rendering his legislative report, Kalu explained that asides other completed projects in their various communities, the delay in the execution of other projects is as result of the current economic inflation which has led to the increase in the price of construction materials as against their initial price as listed in the budget when the budget was drafted. Kalu noted that the senate were currently exploring means of adjusting the cost prices in accordance with the current state of prices of construction materials and equipment.
Furthermore, Kalu emphasised that he has changed the narrative of the Senate , stating that it wasn’t the duty of legislators to facilitate infrastructure projects, the Chief Whip noted that in his capacity he has proven that Parliamentarians can execute infrastructural projects for their rural communities.
Eulogising Kalu, Eze J.O. Akaliro Umuobasi Ukwu Ozuitem outlined projects executed by Kalu in his community. With the level of projects facilitated by Senator Kalu, Eze J.O. mentioned that Orji Kalu has made available tangible achievements to campaign with when the campaign begins, declaring that they ensure communities remain solidly behind his reelection back to the Senate.
