Chairman of Labour Party Yakurr Local Government Area, Comrade Akpama Kammonke Essien has congratulated Nigerians on this year’s DEMOCRACY DAY commemoration.
Akpama in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Leo Lekam Ofem, stressed on the need for Nigerians to get their permanent voter’s card ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The statement said, “Nigerians should participatively get themselves involved in the ongoing Permanent Voters Card (PVC) registration process across the country ahead of 2023 general elections to enable them be a part of those who’ll chose who becomes our leader at all levels, thereby convalescing our democracy from the hands of those who have made themselves demi-god (s) in the political arena and have perpetually remained in governance with the driven impulse of emacsen wealth for themselves and their generations yet unborn with impunity, dictatorship and autocracy as a working tool in a democratic rule.”
He also commended the youths for their laudable support and trust reposed on the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi.
“His Excellency, Dr. Peter Obi is the rightful candidate fit for the mission to restore the desired democracy we have been longing for.
“I am encouraging the youths and the elderlies who are yet to come to a consensus with their soul and consciences as a result of the affinity they have with their respective political platforms and ethnic differences to join hands with Labour Party to collectively lift and wheel the economy and democracy of our great nation from its moribund state to the marvelous light of liberty, equity and fairness.
“As we celebrate the 23rd year of Nigeria’s democracy, let us retrospectively reminisce on the sacrifices of our heroes who laid their lives on the course of fighting for democracy, others lost their sameness in the circumstances of obscure allegories. We must as a nation arise from our slumber and stand sublimely firm to protect the labour of our heroes past by upholding the tenet of our democracy,” the statement said.
