Frontline governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr. Etigwe Uwa SAN has said that he will continue to address the challenges which militate against the advancement of women in Abia state and Nigeria at large.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria made this commitment when he met with the 17 LGAs Women Leaders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia.

The legal icon extolled the virtues of Abia women in politics who he described as consistent and reliable. He decried obstacles hindering them such as glass ceilings and discrimination.

He expressed the view that women are very important pillars of the family and society recalling that as an only child he was brought up by his mother who became a widow when he was barely two years old.

While recalling the sacrifices his mother had to make which greatly facilitated the modest progress he has made in life, he paid tribute to all Nigerian women saying that his personal experience underscores the role of mothers in the development and advancement of their children and of society at large.

He assured the women that hope beckoned and the days of their suffering and toil on account of poor governance in the state are numbered and would soon be over. He stated that in his administration when by the grace of God he is elected to led the state, there would be a reversal of the infrastructural decay in the state and that a single kobo of worker’s salaries and retirement benefits would not be owed.

He encouraged them to remain steadfast and look forward to the approaching dawn of prosperity and development in Abia State.

He ended by stating that the time to take back Abia State and put it on the path of progress and glory is now. He urged the women to join him in the movement for the restoration of Abia State so that it can flourish.

The 2023 governorship hopeful appealed to the APGA women to elect him as the candidate of the party, noting that he has the charisma and capacity to win the governoship race for the party.

He thanked the women for their solidarity and continued support for the party.

Earlier, the State Women Leader, Madam Irene in her address noted that the maladministration in Abia State had reached an unacceptable level and that in due course the State would be rid of bad governance so that the people of the state can reap the dividends of democracy.

Highlight of the gathering was the endorsement of Mr Uwa by the women which was sealed with their motherly prayers.
