Etigwe Uwa, an Abia State governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has promised to reduce the rate of unemployment in the state if elected by the people of the state in next year’s gubernatorial election.

Etigwe made the promise yesterday during a screening exercise at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Fielding questions from journalists on the sideline of the exercise, Etigwe alluded the high rate of crime in the state to the increase in youths unemployment. He however gave the assurance that his government would harness the huge resources found in Abia State to develop the state and also engage the youths of the state to make them productive citizens.

According to the APGA governorship hopeful, Abia State has the potential to become the greatest economy in Nigeria even in west Africa if the people look inward and vote for a good leader who will pilot the affairs of the state in right direction.

He said for instance, the garment and shoes industry in the state
could be transformed to outsourcing destinations for most of the great designer in the world, just as he noted that anything produce in Abia can compete favourably with any produced anywhere in the world.

Etigwe also promised that infrastructure development would be prioritized, just as he promised to create an enabling environment for ease of doing business.
