PDP defeats APC To Win Cross River Assembly Seat
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Effiom Ekeng Edet of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the bye-election for Akpabuyo Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly.
The Returning Officer who declared the result on Saturday said Mr Ekeng won the election with 5,866.
He defeated his closest contender, Bassey Ekpo Effiom of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 5, 363 votes.
THE WHISPERER reports that the bye-election followed the declaration of the seat as vacant by the state House Assembly.
This was due to the death Hon. Margaret Ironbar, the lawmaker representing the constituency.
She was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
