A group under the aegis of United Ohafia Initiative (UOI), has lambasted lawmakers representing the council area over poor performance.
According to the group, 95% of constituency projects by the lawmakers have zero impact on Ohafia people.
The group in a statement signed its Director of Media and Publicity, Comrade Williams Kalu stated that “these lawmakers are deceiving themselves, not the masses.”
The group noted that a certain lawmaker representing the council issued fake appointment letters of a non-existent paramilitary agency to youths of the council just to mock them.
“Just before the end of 2021, a certain lawmaker mocked our youths by issuing appointment letters of a non-existent paramilitary agency.
“This lawmaker even announced and shortlisted their names on social media thereby misleading the public, unemployed youths and their families, possibly as a passing political remark.”
Furthermore, the group slammed other lawmakers for performing below expectations.
“We have another lawmaker from our council whose job is to execute building projects with zero impact. What do we need these buildings for? What impact do they have onOhafia and her people?
“In this council, we saw a certain lawmaker sharing fry pan and another shared holes and diggers as his constituency empowerment. This is totally unacceptable!
“Our people must start talking to these people to stop disgracing Ohafia local government area.
“It is imperative to address some pertinent issues affecting the council. Our lawmakers must stop dragging projects not attracted by them; How can we have the number two man in the State Assembly and yet he is not allowed to preside over the House in the absence of the Speaker?
“We must start weeding these people out ahead of 2023 general elections. Ohafia political stakeholders must stop supporting people with zero impact on the council. 2023 should be about what you have done for Ohafia and what you would do. It is time to stop electing people who only become rich while in office. It should not be business as usual,” the group stated.
