APC Parallel Congresses: Don’t overheat polity, MPA President warns desperate politicians
The National President of Mben Political Assembly (MPA), Chief Lucas Eme Uche Onuh has cautioned politicians in Abia State against overheating the polity.
Onuh expressed deep concern at the current exchange of political brickbats by politicians and groups over the recently conducted State Congress of the All Progressives Alliance (APC), describing such exchanges as unnecessary, premature and capable of overheating the polity.
Onuh in a statement signed by him in Abuja on Tuesday said, “I have observed a flurry of activities and attempts by some politicians and individuals to overheat the polity and create tension in the state in their desperate quest for power ahead of the 2023 general elections.
“These desperate politicians are not interested in the development of the State judging by their actions and utterances. It is important they desist from actions that are capable of causing political unrest in the state.”
According to the President of the Ohafia Think Tank group, “those conducting parallel congresses are only doing so for their selfish interests.”
He appealed to Abians to support an Ohafia son or daughter to succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in 2023, noting that no other political bloc in the state deserved to produce the next governor of Abia State than it.
“We supported other clans in the zone to occupy various top positions in the past and now hope that the gesture would be reciprocated come 2023. All truthful Abians will agree that it is time to support the Ohafia-Udumeze clan to produce Abia State governor come 2023.’
“It is payback time for other Abia clans to, in fairness and equity, support a son or daughter of Ohafia Udumeze to bring to the benefit of Abia State the doggedness, determination and can-do spirit the clan is noted for,” he said.
