Osonwa said challenges notwithstanding, Nigeria will prosper as a nation in the future.

“Congratulations to Nigerians on the auspicious occasion of our 61st independence anniversary. The truth is that our country has not always lived up to our expectations, and sometimes, it is hard not to be overcome by despair about the fact of where we are and the perils on the horizon. Nigeria will get better and prosper; only when we are united.

“Today, on our nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary, we are celebrating our indomitable spirit, our collective determination to triumph against all the odds.

He said despite the challenges, “Yet, here we are, still striving with determination and passion, to meet and exceed the lofty promises of our fatherland”.

According to him, “Nigeria can only prosper and become a great nation if we co-exist peacefully with each other irrespective of tribe or religion.

“Therefore, Nigerians must all work together to fulfill the dream of a nation of peaceful coexistence and abundant prosperity.”

The seasoned technocrat noted that Nigeria is on a forward march to greatness and would not turn back, no matter the obstacles encountered.
