Ex- Gov. Donald Duke denies membership of new political party, Rescue Nigeria Project

Former Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Donald Duke has denied being a member of a new political movement, Rescue Nigeria Project as reported by a section of the media on Tuesday.

It was reported that prominent Nigerians have formed the Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) to give Nigerians alternative platform to the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

According to the report, founders of RNP include former governor of Kwara state, Ahmed Abdulfatai, Prof. Pat Utomi, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, former Governor of Cross River state, Donald Duke,

Others are Senator Lee Maeba, Usman Bugaje, Prof. Attahiru Jega, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo, Yomi Awoniyi, Dr. Rose Idi Danladi, Dr. Sadiq Gombe.

However, Mr. Duke in an exclusive interview with Solacebase on Tuesday night described the story as a fake news.

‘’I have never attended any meeting with relation to this party nor informed about it by anybody, ‘’Donald Duke said.

The former presidential candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2019 general elections urged friends and associates to treat the news as fake news in its entirety.

Speaking further with Solacebase in a telephone interview, Mr. Duke said ‘’While I do not contest the intentions of the conveners of the Rescue Nigeria Project, I wish to state categorically, I am not a part of its formation and hereby reconfirm I’m a bonafide member of the People’s Democratic Party and a member of its Board of Trustees.
