President Muhammadu Buhari has named the current minister of Environment, Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar as the new Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development.
He also appointed Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, Minister of State, Works & Housing as the news Minister of Power.
Both are to resume work immediately. The source on Wednesday learned that the President made the surprise move after reports of inefficiency and poor management on the path of the now ex-ministers.
Justifying the move, President Buhari disclosed that it was sequel to the “tradition of subjecting our projects and programs implementation to independent and critical self-review” through sector reporting during Cabinet meetings and at retreats.
He added that “these significant review steps have helped to identify and strengthen weak areas, close gaps, build cohesion and synergy in governance, manage the economy and improve the delivery of public good to Nigerians.”
