We received with utmost concern the moves by Zamfara Lawmakers (State House of Assembly) to have given Aliyu Gausau, the State Deputy Governor a 48-hour ultimatum to appear before it on baseless, unfounded and tailored allegations of misconduct.
Recall that Zamfara lawmakers accused the Deputy Governor of holding a political rally and not being empathetic for the killings of helpless citizens in Maradun LGA of the State by bandits.
It boggles mind the way and manner the temperament of humans work in most issues that pertain running of political administration. PDP Coalition had asked this question before but none of the impunity defenders has ever answered it.
We ask, why has the legislative Assembly failed to invite Bello Mattawalle, the governor to query him for welcoming 18 APC governors that rallied in Zamfara to dine and wine in solidarity with him for defecting to APC? Was that gathering of the governors and other party faithful, not a rally or have bandits not been killing people in Zamfara before and after the jamboree/ merrymaking?
Again, has Aliyu Gausau been saddled with the statutory functions of wielding arms to secure Zamfara people in the bush against bandits attack? Is it not the same way the House member need security that Aliyu does or did they see the deputy Governor staged a party celebrating bandits’ killings?
An invitation that was supposed to be channelled to the governor and Police to clarify the failing security in the State was directed to an innocent leader because he didn’t succumb to pressures of defection to APC. This is sad indeed in a democratic setting where party sentiment and abuse of trust overrides the will of the people.
We want to, among other things make it abundantly clear that Aliyu Gausau did not hold any political rally as falsely claimed by the enemies of his progressive drive for excellence. The same way Governor Bello received the APC governors that visited him was the same manner Mr.Aliyu welcomed his party supporters who went to cheer with him for remaining resolute and unyielding to manipulations and unhealthy show of political jingoism.
Giving Aliyu Gausau 48hour ultimatum to appear for interrogation by the Legislative House is a clear indication of affront, levity and disrespect for Court Orders in the land. For the fact that the deputy Governor had secured an Exparte Order restraining the House from commencing any misconduct proceedings that would by commission or omissions lead to impeachment indictments prove him to be law-abiding and morally sagacious.
This is a leader to reckon with and no amount of callousness, rascality or intimidation can stop him from climbing the ladder of greatness his leadership success has earned him.
If not the nature of lopsided government seen here, how would a legislative House dare to issue compelling instructions in clear violations of a standing court order that had already voided the preliminary actions of interrogations cited therein?
It has succeeded and grown wings in Nigeria that Court will issue Injunctions and instead of the aggrieved parties to seek redress through appeals, they would begin to act the Shylock’s script by being authoritative, draconian, arrogant and anti-people like those of the Machiavelli principles.
This is not obtainable in a democracy and PDP Coalition states categorically that we are ready with all legal firings fully armed to the teeth to defend Mr. Aliyu Gausau within the ambits of the law to ensure the mandate of Zamfara people he holds in trust for them is strongly secured.
We, therefore warn that this mischief, mudslinging and recklessness against the deputy Governor must stop forthwith. It is an aberration and sordid attitude for the Zamfara state lawmakers to allow themselves to be used as instruments of calumny and bad governance.
Finally, with all sense of commitment, we reiterate emphatically that Aliyu Gausau by the special grace of Allah will not only complete his tenure as deputy Governor but would be reelected to head the affairs of the State in the next dispensation as our standing by him remains unbundled and unbreakable.
