President of Mben Political Assembly (MPA), Chief (Arc.) Eme Uche Onuh has appealed to Abia politicians to close ranks and support an Ohafia person as governor of the state come 2023.
The group, Mben Political Assembly (MPA), a political Think Tank, with a primary focus on politics as it affects Ohafia Udumeze with membership of more than 100,000 persons across the major political parties.
Arc. Onuh made the call on Thursday in Abuja during an interactive session with some political stakeholders from Abia State, while reacting to a statement by Chief Chinenye Emelogu, President of Oha-Ukwa Ngwa Congress, who was quoted to have said, “We Will Not Hand Over Power To Old Bende In 2023”.
He said Abia politicians must engage in actions that would make the state peaceful and eschew actions that promotes disunity among Abians.
“Our politicians and elders should imbibe the virtues of tolerance and civility for a greater and better Abia.
“We don’t have any other state outside Abia. We must politically unite and build the state of our dreams. To build the Abia of our dreams is a collaborative responsibility.”
He said that in accordance with Abia Charter Of Equity, the end of Ikpeazu’s second tenure in 2023 means that power will return to Abia North of which Ohafia should be allowed to produce the next governor.
“Worthy of note is that democracy is a game of numbers hence we reiterate our earlier appeal to Abians to support an Ohafia person in 2023 to succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, since we cannot do it alone.
“We are appealing to the various political parties to consider our sons and daughters in 2023. We have eminently qualified personalities to pilot the ship of governance after Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. We have the numbers to deliver any political party with the support of other clans.
“It is evident that the Ohafia governorship project will ensure justice, peace, unity and an egalitarian society in tandem with the philosophy and ideology of our founding fathers.
“Abia political, religious and civil organisations’ leaders must be sagacious, tactful, dynamic and diplomatic in honest and patriotic quest to actualise a united, progressive and prosperous state ’ he said.
