Social Crusader and Global President of One Love Foundation, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor has reacted to the arrest of the leader of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian government.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami(SAN), yesterday, disclosed to journalists that Kanu had been arrested.
Malami, who addressed the press in company of the Inspector-General of Police and spokesman of the DSS, Dr. Peter Afunnaya, kept silence on where Kanu was arrested.
But reacting to Kanu’s arrest in an interview with THE WHISPERER, Eholor said, “I pray history does not repeat itself.
“Some of us are happy, some are sad.
This is not a victory for the federal government, because Nnamdi Kalu is just one person. He has created himself and he has been able to convince a lot of good people who believe that people have the right to agitate for Biafra.
“So I want the federal government to be very conscious how they approach this situation, if it was Obasanjo, he will use what we call the approach of stick and carrot; because they are academicians, doctors, lawyers, scientists, teachers, nurses, labourers and ordinary people who support the cause of Biafra, not because they want Nigeria to be divided, but because they feel that Nigeria has not been fair to them.
“Let us be honest to ourselves, has Nigeria, our country be fair to anybody? The Oduduwas, Arewas, Niger Deltans etc. They are all there also seeking for one agitation or the other.
“If Buhari has wisdom and is not going to listen to sycophants that’d mislead him.
I pray Nigeria remains one, I pray Nigeria is not doomed because this is a very serious matter that he should approach in a very serious way.
“All is I can see is what they call nemesis, it is nemesis that is going to fall on Buhari. He has never been anything but a catastrophe to this country we call Nigeria.
“If you recall the time of Buhari/ Idiagbon era, gestapo style was used to bring back Umaru Dikko back to Nigeria. This is what strained the relationship between Britain and Nigeria.
“Nigeria as a Commonwealth nation never required visa to go to London. It was because of Buhari’s retaliation that the British government seized our plane in the UK because of the kidnap of Umaru Dikko.
“So this kidnapping that we are also going through now in the era of Buhari is quite unfortunate. Buhari is the architect of these problems we have now.
“Now we have the worst kidnappings, now we have the worst form of banditry, herdsmen, now children are being kidnap from school, we now have house robbery and others.
“Buhari is also promoting Nnamdi Kanu and Ipob, because if he had used the same energy on Fulani herdsmen, bandits, kidnappers and corrupt politicians, Nigeria would have been a great and safe place to be.” He said.
