Eholor tackles Yahaya Bello over comment on Covid-19 Vaccine

A civil society group known as One Love Foundation has faulted the claim made by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State that the COVID-19 vaccines are meant to kill people.

The Kogi state governor has repeatedly disregarded COVID-19 protocol and denied the existence of the virus, had told a crowd to reject vaccines because they are meant to kill.

“Vaccines are being produced in less than one year of COVID-19. There is no vaccine yet for HIV, malaria, cancer, headache and for several other diseases that are killing us. They want to use the (COVID-19) vaccines to introduce the disease that will kill you and us. God forbid,” the governor had said.

But reacting in a statement signed by Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor, Global President, One Love Foundation, said the action of the governor was a global embarrassment that should be condemned by all.

“As group, we had thought of ignoring the statement credited to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as seen in a video telling his supporters not to accept the Covid-19 vaccines which the Federal Government are currently getting Nigerians inoculated; but after much deliberation, it is only right to condemn the action of the governor which is quite embarrassing especially from someone occupying the office of executive governor.

“Governor Bello has the right to air out his opinion but such action seen in the viral video is quite condemnable and should not be allowed or tolerated as the scourge of the virus increases across the country.”

Eholor said it is embarrassing and disrespectful for Bello to say that the Buhari-led administration will introduce vaccines to kill Nigerians. How can a President of a nation introduce a vaccine that’ll kill his own people?

“Alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government wants to introduce vaccines to kill Nigerians in his unfortunate video is the high of desecration and disrespect for the Office of the President of the country,” Eholor said.

“Governor Bello has again proven to Nigerians that he is not qualify to head a kindergarten class not to talk of a state. It is sad that under his watch as the governor, Kogi state is now a laughing stock for Nigerians as governance in the state has turned to a monumental disaster.

“Bello, in his insensitivity slashed the salaries of poor workers to as low as 30 per cent while he continues to flaunt his expensive lifestyle to the faces of deprived people of the state; Under Governor Yahaya Bello, healthcare has completely gone moribund with doctors and nurses nowhere to be found in most hospitals and heath centers.

“Kogi State is now ranked among the highest in the demography of states with people living in abject poverty, with the high unemployment rate, infant morbidity and death, low life expectancy and increased crime rate.

“Even though One Love Foundation is apolitical, we are aware that the governor has been going round campaigning to become President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor, it is imperative he knows that Nigerians are not fools; Bello should wake up if he’s dreaming to become President because no right thinking Nigerian will support such a character who couldn’t fix Kogi to lead the nation.”
