Tanker Drivers Block Lagos-Benin Expressway Over Killing Of Two Drivers Allegedly By Fulani Herdsmen, Demands Obaseki’s Presence Before Vacating The Road
Petroleum Tanker Drivers and other articulated heavy vehicles have blocked the Lagos-Benin highway over the killing of two drivers by the terrorist alleged to be Fulani herdsmen last night. The robbers were said to have made away with an undisclosed amount of money from their victims.
The drivers who angrily blocked the ever-busy Lagos-Benin Expressway after Ofosu, the boundary between Edo and Ondo States at the military checkpoint refused all please to vacate the road.Our sources revealed that the military at the checkpoint has practically abandoned their jobs and instead developed the habit of extorting N500 note from tanker driver each and a liter of diesel or PMS from them collected by their proxy who interface regularly with the drivers along the road.
As at the time of filing this report, the NUPENG President Comrade Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, the General Rasaq, 4th Mechanised Brigade, and Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Philip Ogbadu could not be reached for comments.
An eyewitness said the drivers are still insisting that Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State must come to address them before they can open up the road for use.
