Friday, 1st January, 2021 was such a memorable day indeed, in the lives of numerous beneficiaries lucky to be part of the massive empowerment as solely bankrolled by the Kalu Idika Foundation.
Record has it that the Foundation had in the past facilitated several poverty alleviation projects for women, men alongside scholarships and business startup capital for youths alike, but as the year 2020 is ending, the Foundation has once again emphasized on the need to give life a meaning especially to the less privileged and downtrodden.
While addressing the press at a thanksgiving service at Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN), Ndi Ibe Ohafia Parish, the founder of the foundation, Mr. Kalu Idika Okwara encouraged beneficiaries to always show love to one another just as Jesus Christ admonished his followers and christians alike.
“People have been asking me: WHY AM I DOING ALL THESE? It is service to God and humanity. God has blessed me beyond my expectations and it’s time give back to the society” he said.
“Imagine a world where I have enough, you have enough, WE ALL HAVE ENOUGH – obviously the World would be so good and pleasant to live in”.
“We must encouraged love among our people and that can be achieved by giving back to the society.”
Mr Idika disclosed that the purpose of the Empowerment scheme was to contribute his own quota towards helping the government alleviate poverty at the rural level.
In his remarks, the Coordinator of the Foundation, Hon. Idika Agwu Okpo disclosed that the motive behind the Items given to the widows was to ensure that they were happy as well as promoting the spirit of love in the community which was the embodiment of Jesus Christ.
Also speaking at the Empowerment programme was Honourable Hon. Igwe Akuma Akwu who shared his experiences on empowerment matters while advising beneficiaries to love one another to promote peace and sustainable development.
The event had in attendance the Deputy Chairman of Ohafia LGA, Comrade Samuel Uduma Kalu, top government appointees, clergymen and family and friends.
Women especially widows were empowered with wrappers, rice, beans and other household items.
Kalu Idika Foundation is a Non Governmental organisation focusing greatly on impacting the lives of women, men and youths.
